Kevin Hambly

Kevin Hambly

Kevin Hambly is a volleyball coaching legend who has left an indelible mark on the sport. As the sixth head coach in Stanford's history since his appointment in 2017, he has an impressive 14-year coaching career, marked by an outstanding record of 293-114 and two national titles, demonstrating his unwavering dedication and expertise. Currently in his sixth season at Stanford, Hambly remains committed to the program's success.

During his five seasons at Stanford, Hambly has achieved remarkable results with a 115-28 record and a dominant 72-18 Pac-12 conference record. He has secured three conference titles, led the team to three consecutive national semifinals, and nurtured 10 AVCA All-Americans who have earned a total of 18 awards. His mentorship has propelled Kathryn Plummer to two-time AVCA National Player of the Year, while four athletes have received CoSIDA Academic All-American honors. 

In his second season at Stanford, Hambly's excellence was further acknowledged as he received both the Pac-12 and AVCA Pacific North Region Coach of the Year awards. This recognition followed his leadership in guiding the team to their first NCAA title in 2018, marking the eighth championship in school history. Stanford's 2018 season was nearly perfect with a 34-1 overall record, consecutive Pac-12 titles, and an undefeated conference play streak unseen in 15 years. 

Hambly continued his successful tenure by leading the Cardinal to a second consecutive NCAA title in 2019, marking their ninth national championship, more than any other program in the nation. With three consecutive Pac-12 titles and a 30-4 overall season record, Hambly's influence was undeniable. 

Before his Stanford tenure, Hambly excelled as the head coach at Illinois for eight years, reaching six NCAA regional appearances and a national title match in 2011, with a commendable 102-58 record in Big Ten Conference matches. He also prioritized academic excellence, with 75 Academic All-Big Ten honors and the development of CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, highlighting success both on and off the court. 

Hambly's coaching journey began as an assistant at Illinois and with the U.S. National Team before joining Stanford. As a former player at BYU, he earned accolades and later played professionally in France. Hambly's commitment to education is evident through his Bachelor of Science degree in sports management. 

Denise Sheldon, Women’s Volleyball Head Coach 

Denise Sheldon, the head coach at Menlo College in California, is a celebrated figure in women's volleyball. In her four-year tenure at Menlo, she has achieved remarkable milestones, including leading the team to their first GSAC Regular Season Title in 2019 and their return to the NAIA National Tournament after a five-year absence. Under her guidance, the team secured 56 wins, including an impressive 22 victories in 2017, the most since 1991. Sheldon's leadership resulted in six All-GSAC selections, an exceptional accomplishment since Menlo joined the GSAC in 2015.  

Her coaching prowess also led to two NAIA All-Americans, with Moea Kekauoha earning the prestigious title of NAIA Player of the Year. Moreover, Sheldon emphasized academic excellence, with four GSAC and Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes among her team members. Her influence extended to the recognition of two AVCA All-Region First Team members and two AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention team members. 

Sheldon's roots in the Bay Area and her alma mater, Sacred Heart, set the foundation for her remarkable journey. She spent five years working with the USA Volleyball National Team, notably as the U.S. Women's National Team Manager during the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Her role as the Director of Girls' High Performance – National Team Pipeline focused on scouting and recruiting top athletes for the National Team's training programs. 

With over 20 years of coaching experience at the national and international levels, she serves on the Board of Directors for Team Colorado Volleyball Club. Her coaching career includes leading St. Francis Central Coast Catholic High School for five years and coaching various club teams, such as USA Volleyball High Performance Volleyball Teams, Skyora Enterprises, Peninsula Juniors, Team Colorado, and Bring it Promotions. Sheldon's commitment to coaching excellence is underscored by her USA Volleyball CAP Level IV certification and her role as a Coaching Education Instructor. 

Sheldon's own journey as a collegiate player at the University of Nevada-Reno, earning recognition as an Academic All-WAC team member, significantly shaped her coaching philosophy. Before her time at UNR, she excelled as a First Team Junior College All-American. With a remarkable coaching career, extensive international experience, and an unwavering commitment to athlete development, Denise Sheldon stands as a transformative presence in women's volleyball.

Giovanni Guidetti

Giovanni Guidetti is an Italian volleyball coach who has been coaching the Turkish team Vakıfbank Spor Kulübü since 2008. He also coached the Turkey women's national team from 2017 to 2022.  

Guidetti started his coaching career in his hometown of Spezzano, where he coached the team Volley 2000 Spezzano from 1995 to 1998. In 1997, he led the team to be promoted to the Italian Women's League Serie A and was awarded the title "Coach of the Year" for this success.  

Between 1997 and 2000, he was the vice coach of the Italy women's national volleyball team and participated in the 1998 World Championship in Japan and the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. After coaching in the United States Professional Volleyball League (USPV) in the 2000-01 season, he returned to Italy to coach Vicenza Volley.  

Guidetti also coached the US women's national B-team and the Bulgaria women's national team. In the 2003-04 season, he coached Pallavolo Modena and later transferred to Chieri Volley, where he was named "Coach of the Year" again in 2004 and won the Women's CEV Cup in 2005. In April 2006, he became the head coach of the German women's national team.  

Guidetti won the gold medal at the 2013 Club World Championship coaching Vakıfbank Istanbul. He also coached the Netherlands women's national volleyball team from 2015 to 2016, leading them to silver in the 2015 European championship, bronze in the 2016 Grand Prix, and fourth in the 2016 Summer Olympics.  

In late 2016, Guidetti left the Dutch squad hoping to live full-time in Istanbul and took up the coaching job for the Turkish national team. 

Malika Junaid

Malika Junaid 

Malika Junaid is an accomplished architect and the founder and principal of M●Designs Architects in Los Altos, California. She has won numerous awards for her exceptional work, including the prestigious META Remodeling Awards from NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry) and an Environmental Quality Award from the City of Menlo Park, California, for designing the most sustainable single-family home in the city. Her impressive designs have been featured in various local and international media outlets such as the San Jose Mercury News, Los Altos Town Crier, Gentry Magazine, and Eichler Network. 

In 2009, Malika established the Green Learning Institute in California to help communities establish environmentally sustainable building practices through ongoing training and education. She also co-founded the Pakistan Green Building Council in 2010, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable concepts and practices in building and operating communities in Pakistan. Today, the Council is part of the World Green Building Council, the largest international organization influencing the green building marketplace. 

Apart from her professional work, Malika is a Board Member and Charter Member of the Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs of North America (OPEN) and is passionately involved in promoting entrepreneurship and business leadership in the Pakistani-American community. Additionally, she is committed to supporting various charities that focus on educating young girls in Pakistan. Currently, she is a board member and President of the Silicon Valley Chapter of Development in Literacy (DIL).

Junaid Qurashi 

Junaid Qurashi is a highly experienced entrepreneur, Founder, and Managing Partner of MDI Fund, an Investment and Asset Management firm located in Palo Alto, California. He is also the Founder and Chairman of SMB Services, a Business Process Outsourcing firm based in Pakistan. Mr. Qurashi has over 30 years of experience in founding and managing technology and real estate asset management firms. Prior to starting MDI, he held strategic positions in several Silicon Valley companies, including VMware/EMC, Wyse/DELL, and Phoenix Technologies. He has multiple patents to his name on virtualization technology.  

Mr. Qurashi is also the founder of the Pakistan Green Building Council, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable building practices in Pakistan. As the Charter Member and President of the Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs (OPEN) of Silicon Valley, he is actively involved in fostering entrepreneurship and supporting the Pakistani entrepreneurial community. 

Mr. Qurashi holds an M.B.A. degree from Santa Clara University, a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from California State University, San Luis Obispo, and a Graduate School of Business-Executive Program in Social Entrepreneurship from Stanford University.
