Tennis is one of the world’s most popular racket sports, played individually (singles) or in pairs (doubles) on a rectangular court divided by a net. It combines endurance, speed, agility, and strategy, requiring athletes to excel in both technical skill and mental toughness. Tennis is unique in that it is played across multiple surfaces — hard, clay, and grass — each demanding different styles of play.
Tennis was part of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896, but it was removed after 1924 due to disagreements over amateur status. The sport made its return as a demonstration event in 1968 and 1984, and it was officially reinstated as a full Olympic sport in 1988 (Seoul Games), where it has remained ever since. Both men’s and women’s singles and doubles, as well as mixed doubles, are now contested.
At Empower, tennis will be one of the flagship racket sports. Girls will receive coaching from experts to master stroke technique, serve, footwork, and match strategy. Training will focus not only on performance but also on building resilience, discipline, and sportsmanship. Empower aims to position its athletes to compete at national, international, and collegiate levels.
Tennis offers one of the strongest collegiate pathways in the United States, with many universities offering scholarships for both women’s and men’s teams. Elite programs at Stanford, UCLA, Harvard, and Princeton are among the most competitive. Empower athletes will graduate with the preparation to compete for these opportunities, represent Pakistan on the international tennis circuit, and potentially pursue professional careers.
